Four Myths About Rhinoplasty Busted!

Have you considered getting work done on your nose but aren’t sure if you’re a good candidate for surgery? Or, do you simply want to be more educated about the procedure?

In this article, we’ll discuss four specific myths about rhinoplasty. By debunking these common misconceptions, we hope to help those who are interested in learning more!

Myth #1: Surgery Is a One-Size-Fits-All Procedure

Rhinoplasty can be done to make the nose smaller or more prominent, but it can also be used to change the shape of the nose (for example, making the tip pointier or flatter, making sure the nose is proportionate with your face).

Your surgeon should be able to guide you to the nose that’s right for you, but it’s important to communicate what you want from your nose, so there aren’t any miscommunications.

Myth #2: Rhinoplasty Is a Complex Process

This myth of rhinoplasty may be a little bit true and a little bit false. Nose surgery (known as ศัลยกรรมจมูกโด่ง in Thai) is relatively easy for a skilled surgeon, but the healing process can range for each individual.

In addition to the swelling, people will experience bruising and some bleeding from their noses for up to two weeks after the surgery. To combat this, you’ll have to use ice packs regularly for a while.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the inside of your nose will be numb for 6 to 12 months after surgery, meaning that you’ll have to avoid potentially irritating things such as smoke or nasal sprays.

Myth #3: Rhinoplasty Is a Painful Experience

The nose is one of the most painless areas to undergo surgery since it lacks nerves and bones. General anaesthesia can make you feel like you’re sleeping through the whole thing, so all you’ll feel is some tugging at your nose for an hour or two.

Once the surgery is complete, there’s only mild discomfort to look forward to for a few days, which can easily be treated with medicine.

Myth #4: Rhinoplasty Is Too Expensive for Most People

This myth about rhinoplasty isn’t true at all! Rhinoplasty costs can vary depending on how extensive the surgery needs to be.

Plastic surgery is available for everyone, no matter what your financial situation might look like. Most surgeons are more than willing to work with you so that you can get the nose that’s right for you – they’ll even help you find financing if it means getting the result that you want!
